A fabulous wedding of the XXI century

On 29th of April this year was held in London a memorable and wonderful event, the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Prince William son of Charles, Prince of Wales and Diana Spencer, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II is the second behind his father in line to the throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

William and Kate became engaged on holidays in Kenya in October 2010, and official engagements have been announced on 16th of November 2010. Wedding was planned for April 2011 in Westminster Abbey. 1900 guests were invited for the wedding, among them members of the royal family, the bride’s family, friends of couple, members of royal families from other countries, members of the government, parliament and administration and diplomatic corps, governors, prime ministers, representatives of the Catholic Church.

On the wedding day from 8:15 am to Abbey arrived invited guests and on the streets of London crowds gathered to watch the royal wedding of the XXI century. After 10 am to the Abbey from the royal residence Clarence House arrived the groom Prince William dressed in red uniform of the Irish Guard wearing a blue ribbon with his best man Prince Harry, then in the Abbey appeared the royal families from around the world and members of the British royal family and the bride’s mother and brother. Just before the arrival of Kate to the Abbey came Prince Charles and his wife Camilla and the Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip. Exactly at 11:00 to the Abbey drove the car carrying the bride and her father Michael Middleton. When the bride got out of the car everyone could see her beautiful dress of Alexander McQueen brand made by Sarah Burton, whose project was a mystery until the last moment. Kate was taken to the altar by her father, then the couple took the oath in the presence of the Archbishop of Canterbury and later was held a mass. After the wedding the young couple went by carriage to Buckingham Palace. Together with them in the wedding suite were going Kate’s parents with Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Queen and her husband. After 1 pm  the newlyweds and their families appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. The couple greets people  gathered in front  the palace, and airplanes of  the Air Force RAF fly over the heads, including from World War II, to pay tribute to the couple. Then begins the private part of the ceremony in the royal residence, first official reception for several hundred of guests and in the evening a big party till dawn for family and friends.

Queen Elizabeth II as a wedding gift granted to William the title of Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus. Thus, his wife Kate received title of Duchess of Cambridge, Countess of Strathearn and Baroness Carrickfergus.
