The first anniversary of the plane crash in Smolensk

Today 10.04.2011 has passed one year since the air crash in Smolensk in Russia, in which died 96 people at the head with the Polish President, his wife and the last President of Poland in exile. The delegation was on its way to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre. Since yesterday all over the country and as well abroad held celebrations commemorating this tragedy and those who died. Yesterday the main celebrations took place in Smolensk and Katyn, where the families of the victims went along with the First Lady Anna Komorowska. This morning on board of the Okęcie military airport began ecumenical service, with exclusive participation of families of victims, in Cracow the Royal Sigismund Bell rang, and then in the Wawel Cathedral held a mass for the plane crash victims. At the Powązki Cementary in Warsaw in section Smolensk, where are graves of 28 victims of the crash and the monument in honor of all victims, was held ceremony with participation of families and representatives of the highest authorities, in front of the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, on the Cemetery, on Wawel were gathering crowds and in many churches throughout the world were held masses for the intention of the crash victims.
